We are proud of the type of pupil Westwood produces:
'Year 6 pupils firmly believe that behaviour in the school is good. Whilst the quality of pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good overall, their moral and social development is particularly strong and this is reflected in pupils' respect and care for others.' Ofsted 2011. The School fosters an inclusive, family atmosphere. Older pupils are expected to support the younger members of the School, whether that be a 'buddy up' on the walk to Christingle Service at the church, or listening to reception children reading. To help ensure a smooth transition to senior school we encourage independence, and enterprise in the older children. We achieve this through a combination of curriculum based work, and extra-curricula activities, such as the residential trip away, grow a fiver challenge week, or the Orchid Class games room at the Xmas Market. In addition, we have strong relationships with senior schools within the area, ensuring that our pupils get opportunities to experience 'big' school, and are familiar with the environment before they go. |
