School Council

School Council is a group of 7 children whon are spread out between classes (Willow, Maple and Oak). We do many things but we mainly set up class assemblies to decide what the school council should do next.

We use Smart School Councils website software to set up our questions and then deliver the assemblies in class. This means that every child has a vote in the decisions. We also record any comments from the assemblies and decide if we can make them into an action.

We usually meet weekly and have a working lunch to decide what the next class assembly should be.

At the beginning of the year, the children in school voted on a charity that they would like to support. Last year we fund-raised and gave donations of bedding and blankets to Bath Cats and Dogs Home in Bath.

This year the children voted for Dorothy House Hospice.

Our local one is based in Bradford-on-Avon. We recently held a cake sale to raise funds for them. It was extremely popular and we raised over £36.

The good thing about being on the School Council is that we can make changes and we are in charge of running our own events.
